Research Informatics & Data Science Core

Welcome to the Research Informatics & Data Science Core!

Our Research Informatics Data Engineers are ‘honest brokers’ for UMMS clinical data for research. We will work with you and your research team to define and refine your research request in an iterative process, ensuring that your research data is accurate and meets the minimal necessary standard.

Our Data Scientists provide additional data discovery and profiling services. For example, building Large Language Models to screen clinical notes for specific data and information.           

We are stewards of UMMS data for research and will work with you and our colleagues at the Center for Information Services (CITS) to ensure that you have access to the Secure Research Environment (SRE) – our HIPAA compliant Azure Cloud at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).

Finally, we will also confirm that any research compliance administrative paperwork is correct and complete – this includes your IRB Approval or Exemption, and any additional Data Sharing Agreements.
