The University of Maryland School of Medicine and UM-IHC–led BCORE initiative was featured in the Baltimore Sun on October 29, 2025. BCORE received a major boost through a $10 million award from Baltimore’s opioid settlement funds, supporting its mission to create a coordinated, citywide overdose‑response system that links individuals in crisis to emergency care, medication-assisted treatment, recovery services, and social supports. Launched in 2024 as a collaboration between the city, university partners, and community health organizations, BCORE uses the Goldie Health platform to seamlessly connect patients—whether reached via emergency departments, EMS, or fire department units—to treatment and outreach teams, with features like real‑time location sharing and digital consent. Of the awarded funds, about $2.94 million is already approved for fiscal year 2026, strengthening Baltimore’s efforts to improve overdose prevention and long‑term recovery outcomes.
